The Seniors Health Research Transfer Network (SHRTN) is a Knowledge Exchange network that links caregivers, researchers and policy-makers with the goal of improving the health and healthcare for seniors in Ontario. The SHRTN Knowledge Exchange is a member of the SHRTN Collaborative – a network of networks focused on seniors’ health. Other members include the Ontario Research Coalition and the Alzheimer Knowledge Exchange.

SHRTN Library Service Brochure provides an overview of the services offered by the team. The SHRTN Library Service is free for any paid caregiver working with seniors in Ontario (long-term, home and community care). Managed by a Librarian and staffed by trained Information Specialists located in sites across Ontario the SHRTN library service: 1) facilitates access to current, evidence-based information, 2) supports the transfer of research knowledge into best practice, 3) raises information literacy through coaching and training, and 4) helps implement SHRTN’s vision.

The ORC (Ontario Research Coalition) brings together interdisciplinary researchers from multiple institutions working to produce evidence that could help improve the quality of care provided to seniors in Ontario. Funding is now available for two major initiatives: 1) Early researchers who want to focus their work on seniors health, and 2) Promotion of new collaborative projects focused on: drug usage / patient safety, chronic disease, mobility and aging, and aging at home.
