Pain

The goal of the Pain Community of Practice (CoP) is to improve the quality of care for seniors dealing with chronic and acute pain. The Pain CoP will do this by creating a knowledge exchange network between researchers, caregivers, educators, and organizations dedicated to the management of pain in seniors.

To accomplish this, the Pain CoP will:

  • Increase awareness and promote education about pain in older persons.
  • Provide an inter-professional forum for people interested in clinical and research questions on pain in older persons.
  • Assemble up-to-date and high-quality evidence for clinical and organizational practice.
  • Promote discussion on the implementation of best practice guidelines in various settings.

Core working group/membership

The Pain CoP has 25 members and is growing. The members include:

  • 15 paid caregivers
  • four unpaid caregivers
  • five researchers
  • one educator

If you’re interested in becoming a member, please contact one of two Pain CoP Leads, Marjorie Hammond or Alan Chan.
