Knowledge Dissemination

Background

In the past, SHRTN has been approached by a few groups asking for assistance to disseminate specific evidence based knowledge. When the topic of the research aligns with a SHRTN CoP it is easy to provide a letter of support as we can use the resources we’ve dedicated to support the CoP to help disseminate research results. When the research does not align with a SHRTN CoP, it is more difficult to provide the support these groups have requested.

Knowledge Dissemination Series

Knowledge Dissemination Series would differ from SHRTN CoPs in that Knowledge Dissemination Series would:

• Be time limited (a specific number of events)
• Use existing evidence based resources and knowledge related to a specific topic
• Not be responsible for recruiting and supporting members but rather helping participants sign up for specific events
• Organizers would not be expected to identify other resources or innovations

By creating a new type of support, with dedicated resources, taken out of the existing CoP support and Knowledge Broker budgets, we could provide the following types of support to Knowledge Dissemination Series:

• Services of a SHRTN Resources / Event Coordinator to assist with logistical support, access to technology, advertising and promotion, registration support
• Access to SHRTN technology such as Adobe Acrobat Connect, Survey Monkey, conference line and Mail Chimp.

Website

• Promotion of event through SHRTN communication vehicles such as the SHRTN website, SHRTN Exchange and
  access to the SHRTN distribution list
• Some financial support for reproduction of event materials
• Participation in SHRTN Annual Event
