The purpose of this Community of Practice is to bring together managers and leaders in health care organizations across Ontario to discuss possible solutions to low influenza immunization rates of health care workers.
Our community of practice is piloting two new tools.
The first is the Ottawa Influenza Decision Aid. Developed specifically for healthcare personnel, its purpose is to present synthesized knowledge on the benefits and risks of immunization in a clear, concise way, as well as covering values and support issues related to taking the vaccine.
The second tool is geared specifically for the influenza immunization campaign planners within health care organizations. The “Successful Influenza Immunization Campaigns for Healthcare Personnel – A Guide for Campaign Planners” is based on evidence about what makes a vaccine campaign successful.
Additionally, we have begun building a tool kit with samples of campaign essentials that any organization can modify to meet their own needs.
The Ottawa Influenza Decision Aid is available in English and French and is available in a web-based form for use by participating organizations.
Successful Influenza Immunization Campaigns in Healthcare Organizations: A Guide for Campaign Planners was also launched by the Influenza CoP.
