SHRTN Board of Directors

About the Board

The most recent SHRTN Board of Directors was announced at the SHRTN Annual Assembly, held in Toronto in June, 2008. In June, the Board approved the new terms of reference, slate of Board Members, and selected the Board Co-Chairs.

Role of the Board

As stewards of SHRTN, the Board provides strategic oversight and policy direction for the short and long term activities of SHRTN. The Board also oversees ongoing consultation to generate discussion and dialogue with key stakeholders. The Board provides oversight for the budget and work plan and ensures that SHRTN funds are used to promote knowledge exchange.

Strategic Planning Process

The Board’s strategic plan, known as the SHRTN Knowledge Exchange and Action Plan, was adopted from the Interim Board. Priorities for the Board include:

  • Expanding local implementation teams and involvement of LHINs.
  • Reviewing the roles of the Knowledge Brokers and Information Specialists and exploring how they can work together to better support the needs of the members of the CoPs.
  • Continuing to evaluate SHRTN and gather success stories through case studies.

Stakeholders

The 15 voting members of the Board represent various stakeholders, including:

  • caregivers from both long-term care and the community
  • researchers
  • policymakers
  • librarians
  • SHRTN Communities of Practice
  • Ontario’s geographic regions

Ex-officio members of the Board include representatives from various Ontario government Ministries including the Ministry of Health and long-term Care.
